Marketing Your Law Firm in 2020

Many things have changed throughout the years, and now that 2020 is here, marketing has not really changed all that much. In fact, I’d call them “tweaks” and not changes.
1. Email – email marketing is not something new, but it is something that will be getting some attention in the coming year. Using mail marketing has passed its prime. In fact, most people don’t even read their junk mail anymore. The technology of email marketing allows you to stay in touch with past and current clients. Your emails can be packed with content that highlights your achievements, and every email will increase your awareness, even if it is not opened. Email can carry with it a reputation for being ineffective, unless it is used properly. Of course, the great upshot – it’s FREE!
2. Your Website – up until now a website presence was important. If you didn’t have a website presence, you didn’t exist. Going forward, that is still true. In addition, more people looking for legal help are much more likely to work with a firm that is trustworthy, knowledgeable and approachable. In the new year, take time to reinforce your website with positive interaction such as posting blogs, etc. No one likes a stagnant website, and clients do go back and check to see if someone is paying attention to the website.
3. Network – being a good lawyer is not enough anymore. If you sit in your office waiting for people to just show up, you will be sitting there a very long time - with nothing to do. You need to get out there and promote your law firm. Make yourself known by participating in civic associations such as the Chamber of Commerce as well as speaking engagements and sponsoring events. The more your firm becomes a household name – the better it will be for business.
